Duo Authentication

As of November 2018, the University of Minnesota has added a second layer of security to all University accounts. You will be required to enroll in Duo Security, which is a method of two-factor authentication.

If you have not enrolled a device before, you will need to create your Duo account first.

  1. Sign in to my-account.umn.edu with your internet ID (x500) and password.
  2. In the Self-Service menu on the left side of the page, click Duo Security.
  3. Click Create or Manage Duo Account.
  4. Click the green Start Setup button.
  5. Follow the directions found here to setup a device.

Once you have enrolled a device, you must go back into your account and enable Duo Security. If you miss this step, you will be locked out of your account in 14 days.
