The Center for BioInorganic Chemistry (CBIC) brings together faculty and students from multiple departments at the University of Minnesota who share research interests focused on the catalytic role of metal ions in metalloproteins and synthetic model complexes. The design and use of metal complexes as biological probes and diagnostic agents is another related area of interest. Interested students and faculty are encouraged to survey the list of participating faculty, research interests, recent publications, and the CBIC seminar schedule.

The mission of the NSF Center for Sustainable Polymers (CSP) is to transform how plastics are made, unmade, and remade through innovative research, engaging education, and diverse partnerships that together foster environmental stewardship. CSP participants aim to design, prepare, and implement polymers derived from renewable resources for a wide range of advanced applications, and to promote future economic development, energy efficiency, and environmental sustainability in the emergent area of biobased products.

The Chemical Biology Initiative (CBI) is designed to stimulate and encourage interdisciplinary biomedical/biotechnology research, technological development, and education at the cross roads of chemistry, physics, biology, and engineering at the University of Minnesota. Our central goal is to enable the development of a deeper understanding of biology that can be applied to the improvement of health.

The Chemical Theory Center consists of seven faculty members and their research groups in the College of Science & Engineering at the University of Minnesota. Members carry out a broad range of cutting-edge theoretical chemistry and computational research. The CTC fosters a collaborative environment in which every project is looked at with multiple different perspectives. Members of the CTC are trained to be successful scientists that can work productively in a team setting, communicate science effectively, and, ultimately, solve pressing environmental and societal problems.

The mission of the Inorganometallic Catalyst Design Center (ICDC) is to computationally guide the discovery of a new class of energy-science-relevant catalytic materials and understand the underlying structure-function relationships that lead to further catalyst discovery. ICDC participants aim to utilize quantum simulations and predictions to aid with synthesis, characterization, and catalysis of new catalytic materials.

The Center for Sustainable Nanotechnology (CSN) is a multi-institutional partnership aimed at developing a molecular-level understanding of the fundamental chemical and physical processes that govern the transformations and interactions of nanoparticles in the environment.

ChemSynthesis is a freely accessible database of chemicals. This website contains substances with their synthesis references and physical properties such as melting point, boiling point and density. There are currently more than 40,000 compounds and more than 45,000 synthesis references in the database.

ACS provides information, education, career services, professional development and engagement programs to help its members and scientists thrive in an ever-changing global economy. It also supports teaching and learning for students of all ages through grants and scholarships, and it encourages investments in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education, research and innovation.

SBIC was established to advance research and education in the field of biological inorganic chemistry, and to promote popular, industrial, and academic understanding of the field.

The Analytical Sciences Digital Library, ASDL, collects, catalogs, links and publishes peer reviewed web-based discovery materials pertinent to innovations in curricular development and supporting technical resources in the analytical sciences. The ASDL website (www.asdlib.org) is one of several collections initially funded by NSF’s National Science Digital Library (NSDL) program, and is currently supported by the Division of Analytical Chemistry of the American Chemical Society.

The NIST Chemical Kinetics Database includes essentially all reported kinetics results for thermal gas-phase chemical reactions. The database is designed to be searched for kinetics data based on the specific reactants involved, for reactions resulting in specified products, for all the reactions of a particular species, or for various combinations of these.

The SUNCAT Center for Interface Science and Catalysis is a partnership between Stanford School of Engineering and SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. The mission of SUNCAT is to overcome challenges associated with the atomic-scale design of catalysts for chemical transformations of interest for sustainable energy conversion and storage.
